THE ECONYL® YARN

MATERIAL & FABRICS

Camsea Swimwear is a brand exploring the journey from waste to wear. The Camsea team consist of environmentally conscious people, exploring the newest, innovative materials and technologies that exsist on the market. We make active choices to be as sustainable as possible. This includes the choice of material. Camsea only use materials that are classified or certified sustainable.

The final fabric Camsea products are made from consists of 78% ECONYL® (100% regenerated nylon) and 22% Lycra® fiber (recycled elastane.) Both nylon and elastane classifies as synthetic materials, and the materials we use are from recycled sources. All of our products are OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified and all our synthetic materials are GRS-certified. The GRS certification guarantees that the part of the material marked as recycled is actually recycled, while the Oeko-Tex certification ensures that the material is produced without chemicals and does not contain substances that are harmful to health and the environment.

Rescue
Healthy seas

A part of the process starts with The Healthy seas initiative. Healthy seas purpose is to collect plastic, fishnets and other waste materials from our oceans. The ocean waste combined with other nylon waste materials is then transformed and regenerated into Econyl® yarn, a high-quality raw material which is then used to create new products.

Since 2013 Healthy seas has been fighting for a cleaner ocean. They currently work in all of the following regions; The North sea, Medeteranian sea, The Adriatic sea, The Red sea, The Baltic sea & The Pacific ocean. Healthy seas work with over 250 volunteer divers and 1250 fishermen and fish farmers.

THe process behind
ECONYL® YARN

Nylon waste – such as fishing nets, fabric scraps, carpet flooring and industrial plastic - otherwise polluting the Earth, is transformed into ECONYL® regenerated nylon. It’s exactly the same as brand new nylon and can be recycled, recreated and remoulded again and again.

All waste material made from nylon 6 has a potential infinite life, because thanks to its chemical properties it can be regenerated and returned into its original form. This procedure can be repeated a never-ending number of times without any loss of quality or performance. That means new products can be created and bought  without having to use new resources. An infinite loop of sustainability.

The regeneration process consist of 4 steps. Rescue, Regenerate, Remake & Reimagine.

By Producing our Swimwear with the ECONYL® fibre, we help to fight plastic pollution of our planet and reduce the need to use materials created from new resources.

For every 10.000 tonnes of the ECONYL® nylon produced, 70.000 barrels of crude oilare saved and 65,100 tonnes of CO2 eq. emissions are avoided.

As well as being a solution on waste, ECONYL® regenerated nylon is also better when it comes to climate change since it reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 90% compared with the material from oil.

In our products and product development, we always seek to use as much recycled material as possible to have the greatest impact possible, which is why there is a minimum of 78% ECONYL® regenerated nylon in all our products. In order for the recycled material to feel delicious and soft in connection with the skin, we mix it with approx. 22% Lycra® fiber. This combination guarantees the best quality, durability, stretch & hold ability.
